Mushka handmade jewelry embodies an elegant simplicity inspired by nature. Each piece is meticulously crafted using silver, 14k gold, red brass, or bronze. A contemporary interpretation of organic forms and unique surface finishes are signature design elements. With brushed silver, heat-treated brass, and luminous 14k gold, Mushka's metallic creations are an ode to natural beauty, personal expression, and quality craftsmanship. • • • I started working with metal in high school and right away there was a connection. Working with tools and metal is empowering and has always given me a sense of strength. At the same time, creating thoughtful, delicate pieces of jewelry speaks to my sentimental side. Creating jewelry is the perfect way to express both strength and sensitivity. I consider jewelry miniature sculpture that carries great meaning for both the giver and the receiver. I am as passionate about the metalsmithing process as I am about infusing my work with genuine, heartfelt emotion. • • •
Prior to launching Mushka Designs in 2004, I attended the University of Michigan School of Art and Design where I studied Jewelry Design and Metalwork as well as Graphic Design. In order to further refine my skills, I spent three years working for jewelry designers and sculptors first in Detroit and later Los Angeles. My work experience and education in art has influenced me to create from a contemporary perspective while staying true to old-world metalsmithing techniques. • • • With nature as a muse, a repertoire of metalsmithing techniques, and a flair for the contemporary, Mushka is comprised of variety of compelling collections that currently includes: Earth, Mod, Nightfall, Blossom, Organic Adornments, Leaf Link, and Slate. Ultimately, Mushka is a body of work that represents a fusion between functional jewelry and the art of metal sculpture. Each piece balances strength and sensitivity and is a celebration of natural beauty.
